FAQS
GENERAL QUESTIONS
Q1: What is TeachCare Staffing?
TeachCare Staffing is a U.S.-based referral and training consultancy headquartered in Virginia. We connect qualified international teachers—primarily from the Philippines—with U.S. Department of State–authorized J-1 visa sponsors and K–12 schools open to hosting exchange teachers.
We are not a recruiter, placement agency, or visa sponsor.
We do not hire or deploy teachers.
We never charge placement fees.
Our role is to ethically prepare, screen, and refer instructionally ready educators—while ensuring compliance with all J-1 program rules.
Q2: What exactly does TeachCare do?
We support three key groups:
-
Teachers: by coaching them on demo lessons, interviews, classroom management, and cultural readiness.
-
Sponsors: by referring J-1-eligible teachers who are prepared and aligned to sponsor requirements.
-
Schools: by facilitating compliant connections with sponsors, and supporting interview coordination and onboarding.
All visa processing and employment decisions are handled by the authorized J-1 visa sponsors and/or school districts—not by TeachCare.
Q3: Do you charge teachers to find jobs in the U.S.?
Absolutely not.
TeachCare Staffing follows a strict "no placement fee" policy.
We do not charge any referral, hiring, or demo prep fees to teachers.
Our services are funded by U.S. schools or J-1 sponsors, or through optional training services that teachers may choose to purchase (but are not required to).
Q4: Are you a visa sponsor or employment agency?
No.
TeachCare is not authorized to sponsor visas or act as an employer.
Only U.S. State Department–designated J-1 sponsors can issue the DS-2019 form. We assist by referring teachers to these sponsors—but we do not file visa applications, issue employment contracts, or perform legal processing.
Q5: Who benefits from TeachCare’s services?
-
International teachers: seeking ethical, preparation-based U.S. teaching opportunities
-
J-1 sponsors: looking for qualified, classroom-ready, and coachable candidates
-
School districts: exploring global teacher exchange programs through trusted sponsor partnerships
Q6: What makes TeachCare different?

-

-

Q7: What is the J-1 Teacher Exchange Program?
The J-1 Visa Teacher Program allows qualified international educators to teach in accredited U.S. K–12 schools for 3 to 5 years under a cultural exchange framework.
Only designated J-1 sponsors are authorized to manage this program and issue the necessary documentation.
TeachCare helps teachers prepare for and connect with these opportunities—but we do not sponsor visas.
Q8: What if I don’t meet all the J-1 requirements yet?
You are still welcome to apply.
We’ll evaluate your qualifications and recommend next steps—such as:
-
Improving English proficiency
-
Gaining additional classroom experience
-
Completing credential evaluations (e.g., WES, SpanTran)
Our goal is to help you become J-1 ready, ethically and confidently.
Q9: Can TeachCare help schools interested in J-1 teachers?
Yes.
We support school districts by:
-
Introducing them to authorized J-1 sponsors
-
Providing a curated pool of credentialed, demo-ready teacher candidates
-
Assisting with interview coordination, classroom fit, and onboarding
-
Offering optional mentorship for teacher retention post-placement
Q10: Is TeachCare affiliated with the U.S. government?
No.
TeachCare is a private educational consultancy operating independently. While we align fully with the U.S. Department of State's J-1 program requirements, we are not a government agency and not affiliated with any embassy or consulate.
